Wide Shot

Long shot or wide shot is used to set the scene and the character’s place within it in a broader sense, it shows the full length of the subject as well as a large surrounding area. Wide shots are usually used to push people away from the audience than pull them in, forcing the viewers to be isolated onlookers, separate from the movie rather than immersing them in the scene. Alternatively, long shots may be used to make the characters seem isolated or disconnected from the large space as they look small compared to the intimidatingly prodigious landscape. Furthermore, wide shots may also suggest the freedom a character reigns over such a wide space, especially when they travel across the area.
