Close-Up
Close up shots are usually used to highlight the features of a person's face or to exaggerate the existence of an object.
When zooming in on a person's expression, it allows viewers to absorb the minute details and observe a person's state of mind through the details on their face; such as scrunched eyebrows to indicate thoughtfulness, supposedly hinting that the character will do something unexpected. For objects, a close up may allude to a deeper meaning of the said object, for example a close-up at an apple may push a certain hidden motif. Perhaps the apple represents the main character's temptation, referring to the deeper biblical meaning of the apple, or it could represent how far the character has grown much like his favorite fruit, the apple. Or it could trace back to an earlier flashback when the main character shared an apple with their sickly mother during childhood, and the symbol has been called back on the day of her death anniversary.
