Establishing Shot

An establishing shot is a long, high shot that introduces buildings, objects and other elements in a scene to set them up for the upcoming scene. Establishing shots are used to show backgrounds, time (or time period) and settings before something happens, they don’t include characters and are very rarely showing emotions. They introduce concepts and settings to prepare the audience.
